Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to get a water like effect? I am planning on painting them blues and greens but not sure how to get it looking just right. |

Keep it pretty simple, with simple highlights, and then maybe paint white glue over top, or even a gloss varnish to get the shiny efect. |

Gloss Varnish works very well. I used it on 2 River Trolls for for my Night Goblin Team.
It looks like they just crawled out of the marsh. |

If you are patient, unlike me, you can use thin layers of whiteglue to make transparent globs of slime. I use PONAL-white, which dries almost completely transparent. Color it up with a little diluted brown ink to give it a murky look. |

or if you're impatient why don't you try the dipping technique.
for this make you will need:
1 set of figures
some paints and brushes
2 cups of water
1 tin of ronseal quick drying wood stain in medium oak colour (other wood stains are available)
some newspaper
1 dvd of own choice
step one
take said miniatures that you want and clean off all the lines and flash. then base coat it in your choice of colours using the paints and brushes. use first cup of water as required to clean brushes.
step 2
lay down newspaper
(if like me you're a mucky pup then please re-arrange steps 1 and 2 or else mum, girlfriend, wife, prison officer might tell you off.)
step 3
once miniature is dry from paint stage, hold base in fingertips and submerge in cup of water number 2. pull out of water and give miniature a small shake to get excess water off. you want a light sheen of water left.
step 4
dip in ronseal quick drying wood stain, lift out and shake excess wood stain off.
step 5
place miniature upright on newspaper to dry.
step 6
repeat steps 3-5 until all miniatures are done.
step 7
go and watch choice of dvd
step 8
come back and admire your miniatures in all their highlighted glory as the wood stain will run into crevasses and highlight the raised areas as well. bonus!!!
step 9
lie to your friends and say that it took you ages to achieve the cool murkiness of this lizaardman team.
of course you can try other colours as well. wood stains even come in blues and greens these days. if you're unsure how it'll look just try one miniature. if you don't like the effect just strip it and try another way.
