After many changes of my mind, I finally settled on taking a Necro team, the Rottington Deadskins, to the Sandgroper Cup II. I am about halfway through painting the zombies and ghouls. Pics up when they are finished.
But here is the start of their shared (with my Deadlings) pitch.
Basic plan was the pitch down the middle with 3 seperate boards down each side. On one side will be the GW arcane ruins in the middle, with the steps from it leading to the pitch and each dugout on either side. In front of the dugouts will be two rows of graves for the turn and reroll markers. On the other side will be a watchtower in the middle, with Bob and Jim on top commentating. Either side will be the stands.
Stage one
The MDF board in the middle has a sheet of polystyrene stuck on it. All the pieces will get this to add some depth and make it soft on the models.
Also the floor tiles for the dugout has been glued down.
Stage two
Here the grass mat has been stuck onto the polystyrene. The walls around the dugouts have been cut out of 5mm foamcard and stuck in place with a couple of old doorframes from Heroquest. The stands on the far side have also been erected. They are blocks of 50mm polystyrene surrounded by foamcard.
Close up of the dugout so far
More to follow as I progress |

OK next update...
The foamcard has been painted with a textured paint. Polystyrene stuck to the base around it. Then the balsa wood trim, almost ready for painting.
Also managed to get the zombies done. I'm happy with the way they turned out.

That is awesome! What did you use for the flooring in the dugouts? |

Material questions;
1) what type of board did you use (it looks like tileboard)
2) what type of foam in under the pitch (is it that dense roll out stuff of the stuff that breaks into little foam balls)
3) what matt did you use for the pitch (is that felt or a roll of grass from the train store) |

Hirstart tiles a friend has cast up.

1] Just plain old 3mm MDF
2] Just normal Polystyrene, like the stuff that is used in packaging etc.
3] Yep, a roll static grass from the local hobby shop. |

Been a while but things are progressing
Pitch has been marked out. Dugouts painted and the grass stuck around them. Gravestones for turn and reroll markers have been painted and stuck in place with a hot glue gun.

The zombies look great!
The team colours make a very nice contrast over their skin!
Congrats! |
