Ok out of sheer boredom at work last night I began thinking of the 32 teams in the NFL & trying to make them all BloodBowl races using all 24 races at least once.

I'd use the BloodBowl fluff for some teams (New York Giants = Dwarf, Dallas Cowboys = Dark Elf), but for the most I just used creativity , and in some cases a huge stretch to make them fit.

AFC North

Pittsburgh Steelers = Underworld (ok I can see already the arguments that they should be Dwarf or even Chaos Dwarf before Underword. But here goes my bad logic , Ok I need one Underworld team & nothing really fit so even though Steelers is not spelled Stealers if they were Skaven & Goblins would be prime candidites for theft.
Cincinnati Bengals = Khemri (another stretch here, but a humored one, the band the Bangles had a song called Walk like an Egyptian , like I said it was a stretch!)
Cleveland Browns = Necromatic. Ok so what is a Brown anyway? They have the nick name the Dog Pound & well werewolves are kinda dogs.
Baltimore Ravens = Undead. Ravens are in story associated with death, need I say more?

AFC East

Buffalo Bills = Chaos Dwarf. A Buffalo is the closest thing to the Bull Centaur (ok not really but thats my final answer.)
Miami Dolphins = Slann (Yes another stretch here, but I ask you what is close to a frog? A Dolphin? No not even close, but dolphins live in water & frogs spend a lot of time in water.....)
New England Patriots = Human, easiest race to assign.
New York Jets = Goblins (Ok here goes, the Jets uniforms are green, goblins are green. Jets fly , goblins fly when thrown by trolls.)

AFC South

Houston Texans = Dark Elf . Well a Texan is like a Cowboy, & if according to BloodBowl Fluff The Cowboys are Dark Elf , then so will be the Texans.
Tennessee Titans = Ogre . Ogres are tall so are Titans!
Jacksonville Jaguars = Amazon . Amazons are the sexiest race to play BloodBowl, sexy Women can be referred to as a Cougar , Cougar/Jaguar close enough.
Indianapolis Colts = Nurgle. Ok the Rams are obviously going to be Chaos, & a Colt is a Horse, Horses have hooves so do Rams, so they are similar but different as are Chaos to Nurgle.

AFC West

Oakland Raiders = Orc. (Just following BloodBowl Fluff.)
Kansas City Chiefs = Orc. (Ok Orcs have War-bosses, & a War-boss could be called a War-chief right?)
Los Angelos Chargers = Skaven. (Another stretch, I know ... So Chargers symbol is a lightning Bolt & Skaven use Warp Lightning, so ya there you go.)
Denver Broncos Nurgle. (Refer to the Colts.)

NFC North

Minnesota Vikings = Norse. (Does this really need explaining?)
Green Bay Packers = Halfling. (The team name just reminds me of the Greenfield Grass Huggers, so Halfling they are!)
Chicago Bears = Chaos Pact. (Chaos Pact are big and mean & so are Bears!)
Detroit Lions = Khorne (Lions are the King of the Jungle, and Bloodthirsters are the Kind of the Big Guys)

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys = Dark Elf. (Following BloodBowl Fluff.)
New York Giants = Dwarf. (Following BloodBowl Fluff.)
Philadelphia Eagles = Elf. (Following BloodBowl Fluff )
Washington Redskins = Lizardmen. (Ok I needed something for Lizardmen & well there may be lizards out there with red skin.....)

NFC South

Tampa Bay Buccaneers = Vampire. (Ok I needed a Human type team to be Vampire, a Buccaneer is Human, A Vampire was Human!)
Carolina Panthers = Amazon. (Refer to Jaguars.)
New Orleans Saints = Bretonian (This really doesn't need explaining)
Atlanta Falcons = Elf. (A Falcon is a Bird of Prey just like an Eagle)

NFC West

Los Angelos Rams = Chaos. (A Beastman looks like a Ram!)
San Francisco 49'rs = Dwarf. (Dwarves are miners.)
Seattle Seahawks = High Elf. (If all bird teams are Elf teams, & the High Elf homeland is in the middle of the ocean then a Seahawk would be close by.)
Arizona Cardinals =Wood Elf. (Again all bird teams are Elf teams, and a Cardinal is the least Armoured of the Birds listed )

(Starts slow clap) Well done sir... Well done. Now, to convert the team names to BB names and keeping with races. Such as Olde Yorkshire Gits or Khorncago Kodiaks.
But as a lover of fluff, I say bravo...

Thank You, but doing that will take another day's effort. Wink

So for scoring from NFL to BB I divised a system to divide the NFL score by 10 rounding down. For example Team A wins 37 - 3 over team B that would be a BB score of 3-0.

If the NFL score after divided by 10 & rounded down was a BB score tie (but the game in reality was not a tie) the winning team's BB score would be bumped up +1. For Example Team C lost to Team D 24-21. Team D' would win with a BB score of 3-2.

Only actual NFL ties would result in a BB tie.

Funny you should ask! Just a couple of weeks ago, I put this list together trying to match up all of the old Fluff teams to races and NFL teams:

Division: NFL Team (Race) Nickname
NFC East: Redskins (Necromantic) Bruendar Grimjacks
NFC East: Giants (Dwarf) Dwarf Giants
NFC East: Cowboys (Dark Elf) Darkside Cowboys
NFC East: Eagles (Elf) Elfheim Eagles

NFC North: Bears (Dark Elf) Naggaroth Nightmares
NFC North: Packers (Chaos Dwarf) Zharr-Nagrund Ziggurats
NFC North: Lions (Chaos) Chaos All-Stars
NFC North: Vikings (Norse) Norsca Rampagers

NFC South: Falcons (Orc) Gouged Eye
NFC South: Buccaneers (Halfling) Stunted Stoutfellows
NFC South: Saints (Khemri) Neter-Khertet
NFC South: Panthers (Lizardmen) Lustrian Cobras

NFC West: Cardinals (Skaven) Skavenblight Scramblers
NFC West: 49ers (Dwarf) Warhammerers
NFC West: Rams (Human) Reikland Reavers
NFC West: Seahawks (Halfling) Greenfield Grasshuggers

AFC East: Bills (Chaos) Khorne's Killers
AFC East: Dolphins (Wood Elf) Athelorn Avengers
AFC East: Patriots (High Elf) Galadrieth Gladiators
AFC East: Jets (Nurgle) Nurgle's Rotters

AFC North: Bengals (Norse) Artic Cragspiders
AFC North: Ravens (Goblin) Lowdown Rats
AFC North: Browns (Human) Creeveland Crescents
AFC North: Steelers (Dwarf) Grudgebearers

AFC South: Texans (Undead) Champions of Death
AFC South: Titans (Ogre) Oldheim Ogres
AFC South: Colts (Vampire) Craggen Counts
AFC South: Jaguars (Amazon) Jlaxonkill Jaguars

AFC West: Broncos (Elf) Kallahir Swifts
AFC West: Chargers (Human) Bright Crusaders
AFC West: Raiders (Orc) Orcland Raiders
AFC West: Chiefs (Skaven) Underworld Creepers

This was a tricky exercise! Many of the teams are lined up through GW Fluff uniform color palettes (Falcons=Gouged Eye, etc.) or through geography (Dwarves, Goblins, and Norse in the north).

Some were really tough... It's hard to go against the Orkland/Oakland Raiders orcs, but the team mascots for the Raiders fits better with the Champions of Death. In retrospect, I should have gone with the classic fluff Halfling team "Bluebay Crammers", instead of Chaos Dwarfs in Green Bay. Just liked how that division's race composition came together.

I'm a huge Redskins fan, so I was split between the Redskinks (Lizardmen) and Deadskins (Necromancer).

Yes where your list is more true to the many teams of NAF, my list only took the few teams that had actual names in the fluff, (Raiders, Cowboys, Giants, ect) & then my list is after that a more post NAF collapse per say.

Both well done in their own right.

The Dwarf team had a bye then beat Halflings & Wood Elves. While the Undead journey was a little tougher to the big game. They faced and defeated Nurgle, Nurgle, Human.
