HI guys!

I want to paint my second Bull Centaur mainly white, but I was wondering how you were painting it.

I just finished a Ral Partha White Dragon that is quite good looking, but I used Ice Blue as a basecoat, something I don't want to do with the BC since he's not Icy (although he tends to freeze on his Niggling roll way too often to my taste...)

Use a white undercoat, then multiple applications of thinned skull white.

try and smooth the surface of any large areas with files - white areas tend to show "rough" surfaces easier than darker ones, ruining the effect. Shade with blue or grey

Use elf grey base, with a dry brush of skull white. I have the old citadel paints so my elf grey is very light and looks more like a dull white than a grey.

I am using this on my Dwarf team and it turns out well.

You can also reverse this and use Skull white as base with dry brush of elf grey, but I don't think it looks as good.

Thanks! That will help. I was thinking (tell me if it's a total No-no) mixing 50/50 Shadow Grey and Skull White as a base color, then drybrushing with 75/25 Skull white and Shadow Grey, than Skull White.

(I might also add Shadow Grey spots, to have a "spotty horse" look...)

There are many different schools of thought on painting. I always undercoat with black. so I like to base coat any white areas with fortress grey, then I paint white over that, maybe 2 to 3 layers, using the white as a highlight.

Here is an example:http://bloodbowl.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=614

There's many ways I paint my white...

Shadow grey, white drybrush...

White, Ink any color then drybrush again (great glowing effects)

Vomit Brown base. Thin layer of bleached bone, followed by a thinner highlight of white

I always use Ghost Grey then highlight up to white.
