It's an idea i had a few days ago and that we're experimenting on www.francebloodbowl.com (to play javabowl)
The principle is to challenge another painter. You take the same fig or the same type of fig and you both agree on a number of days to paint it. It must be short, like 2 or 3 days if you're on holidays and max a week if you work. You gotta be honest
When it's finished, people vote to tell who won the clash. The looser must pay a beer to the winner. And the winner gets all the honors
You want to try that ? |

Might be more interesting if you had people painting up "opposing" figs and the winner got both. |

Yeah! Why not also 20 $ and a butterfinger?
For me it's just about fun. We take 2 figs and let see who's better at it.
It's also a good way to paint that fig that's been on the shelf for 6 months |

I really can't believe it!
Nobody's interested. Nobody wants to paint just for the fun of it in a mini contest? Are people too competitive and afraid of losing?
It's a clash, not the golden demons, damnit! and certainly not Las Vegas (to win the other mini) |

I don't find painting fun but I'd be game. I don't paint that well so it will be a good way for me to get a brush in my hand. Who knows, I may learn something. When do we start? |

I need to paint my den but minis are fine as well.
Wanna do a goblin? I do but I'll paint anything you want. I don't know what you have. I have most of the minis and they're all just lying around needing paint. I just happen to need 3 Goblins and a Troll for my Orc team.
You can e-mail me directly at paddleforfun@comcast dot net if you'd like. I'm sure you know how to make that a real e-mail address.
I've gotta warn you though, you'll probably win the first few. |

Hehe, neat idea but to be honest I find painting competitions take the fun out of painting minis. Things like Cool Mini or Not really rub me the wrong way, I'd rather promote painting rather than turning it into a contest all the time (yes, I am aware of the ironic nature of that statement ). But id you guys want to do something like that it would be fun to watch. |

The NAF should create "PR" (Painting Rating). You can calculate the odds of winning the next clash, stake points, etc.

I agree with what you say Ant. The clash is not really a serious contest made to tell who is good and bad.
It's more about teasing, painting for fun and see who got the best idea. Beside, i find it a good way to paint that damn mini that's been on my shelf for 2 years |

I htink it's a great idea... and as soon as I get done with this wedding planning... Count me in on a few.
It's also a great way to jsut get new ideas from each other. I mean let's face it... we're our own museum here. |

Great! Now I feel like I need to do something special. I really need to paint a Goblin to match my team. |

hahaha, so i can accept nearly every BB mini as challenge... i got sooooo many bb minis to paint !
Nice idea, IMO, but not for me right now. To much to paint right now.. but, like at the TBB legacy 2003 event, as i painted all 4 different 3.ed gobbos in one rush with the TBB gobbo...sothis idea could help me , too.
