I agree with Indigo. prefer the subtle changes and additions rather than replacing the ball with exploding fruit, or other such radical ideas. But they have to cater for all tastes I suppose.
I agree wholeheartedly with the MO grumbles though - yet to see my #6...much banging of head against wall to ensue I'm sure.

I dont understand why they come up with content that is not supported in "physical" form. For example, the "at sea" rules. If they have something like this, they should include a folding map of an "at sea" pitch. The ogre team is another example. No mini's (yet) to support them. You have to make conversions or have a whole team of Morg's Sad

You could also use 2nd edition ogres, but I see your point. Fanatic seems to forge out on its own a lot of the time. Sometimes they seem to create rules that are highly unbalanced, but it's an interesting read.

It's like creating a robotic team (for an example) but not bothering to make mini's for them. Or, creating rules for the fabled "iceburg" Norse pitches, but you have to pretend that the grassy, box set pitch is really made of ice and floating in the ocean. Rolling Eyes

I don't get it. It reminds me of when I was 12 and not able to afford real miniatures, so I played D&D with Stratego pieces Sad

That reminds me of college, where we couldn't afford to buy the GW sets, so our whole league of 10 people used plastic orc and human pieces from a single box of Blood Bowl.

We got a lot of new players involved in the game, but still...

The ogres were in the latest WD (4 models). It then said £8 ogre, £10 thrower.
Of course no sign of them on online store. But (and forgive me if I'm wrong, I've not been following the whole ogre thing too closely) I thought about it and just a basic 11 man team including one thrower. (10*Cool+10=£90 ....£90!!! That's a serious amount of money by any standards, and for a team where the rules are at best questionable (from what I've heard - not got my #6 yet). There's not going to be a queue of people to get those surely. What I find irritatiing is the fact that fanatic regularly use the "we have limited resources" line, but have spent the time and effort to create what appears to me to be a very niche product. They constantly say they are a smaller operation and need to justify costs. Simple economics state that you will not be shipping as many £90 teams as the standard £18-£25 boxes, so I fail to see where this argument holds up. I am as always prepared to be corrected on this....

For the correctness: BB Ogre Team costs 125US$ at MO-US (= 80-85 BSP). You can get them via the search engine, but no pictures. (I strongly guess, they will have 10 Ogres and one Ogre Trower, maybe one more bc you save when buying a team box)

But the (currently) experimental Fantic Ogre team only has 8 ogres so £64, bit more if you buy the thrower, and don't forget the 8 gobbo figures.

Hhhm, I checked again, they have obviously changed the price in the meantime. Now the team is listed for 75.00US$ (?) and the Thrower for 20.00US$. But who knows how often they will further change it...

Ok, so my numbers were a bit out, but even at £64 plus goblins, how many people are going to want to shell out that much? Especially for an experimental team, whose rules are being hotly disputed? Don't get me wrong, I love the models, but I'm seriously reluctant to part with that amount of cash for 8 models - which may well be obselete as a team in future. If fanatic have such limited resources, you wonder if they might think about their deployment a little more.

I won't buy the whole box (unless in some store opening bargain etc) but just one, two models. I think the new ogres percetly fit into 2nd ed. Human Teams (much more than the older Ogres).
But anyway, who said that having a GW hobby is a cheap thing? Confused

Do you happen to have a pic of the models? I have just seen the one ogre in a three-point stance on the fanatic page.

Thanks,
Rob

Heck no I wont shell out that much! 35 bucks (on sale) for an 11 mini team is recockulous! Then, you have to shell out another 20-30 bucks for 2 more booster packs to have a full roster of 16 Sad Sad Sad

Games Workshop is the devil. I've conceded to purchasing a 16 woman team of Shadowforge mini's because I can concievably use both the Amazon and the Human's team rosters for them. Thank God I have a GW Dwarf team or I would never be able to play in tourneys Sad

But they're awesome multi-pose figs, in very 2e-ish specific Blood bowl style, rather than WHFB less the weapons. I'll be getting some, probably in blisters rather than the team deal, though. Putting 2 and 2 together, I'm guessing the reason the thrower costs the extra is because he comes with a 'landed' goblin.
With 7x2e, 2x1e and 3 Morgs sitting the cabinet we could be looking at some Ogre v. Ogre action here at Wodell. Oh yes....

Surprised nobody's commented on the new cheerleaders and star players mentioned, especially with the hint that AndyH dropped on TBB a while back.
Norse and Amazon SPs anyone? Wink
