Post subject: Chainsaw Wielding Looney and conversions...  PostPosted: Nov 04, 2003 - 10:14 AM

I am personally a big fan of secret weapons but I'm having a hard time finding a chainsaw I actually like. Well upon looking through my bitz box I kept bringing up Orc Chainsword and began looking at them as perhaps being the answer to my problems. Is this a reliable option to making a chainsaw wielding looney out of an existing BB mini, or would this give it too much of a future feel to it? OR has anyone come across a bit at GW or any other company in plastic that looks better then a standard chainsword? I have been looking for an old mini or bit of a <I believe they had this at one point as I have a mini that has one but can't remember if it was a conversion or not> a chain halberd... It is a two handed chain sword in essence but I think it might be a conversion and if that is the case it might be a pain to reproduce.... Also When adding something like a pipe to an existing weapon or an exhaust port is it bets to use green stuff rolled to shape and bent or to use a sprue piece to try to get the desired effect?

I, personally, like the idea of using 40K chain swords as chainsaws for the loonies. It's easy to convert and easy to get ahold of them. Plus, everyone knows what the are supposed to be.

Thanks for the response I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get laughed out of any conventions I attend in 2004 if the weapons rules are made official.

i would recomend either using and ork or chaos chainsword. They are both easy to convert and have a less " tecky" feel. Just my ideas Smile

Or perhaps the chainsaw attachment from the Catachan Sentinel crew sprue, if you really want plastic for the ease of chopping.

I think Torg used that one for the NBA team on TBB.

No, used a different one (a 40K Deamonhunter model), but this one looks good too.

There is a decent chainsword on the Chaos Marine sprue with the Chain exposed all the way around, plus it's got a funky curve to it. Looks fairly menacing.

I used a 40k Ork chainsword and pit it in the waiting arms of a goblin fanatic... looks great! He's spinnig around with two hands on the end of it. the large size of the orc chainsword helps as it gives the impression of weight

I've used the new plastic 40K Ork chainsaw. It looks ancient and primitive enough to be designed by a Dwarf, and it's twice as big as an Ork Chainsword Orc

If you want a BIG chainsaw, there is an Inquisitor add on pack that includes a number of chain weapons. If you added one of those, there would be no confusion whatsoever that the model was a loonie...

Link to the UK GWMO page for the pack-
